1. About These Terms

1. About These Terms

These terms apply to the takes you send from SpeechPath Lab, which Myung Joon Kang runs to help build SpeechPath, starting with SpeechPath 2.0. They work together with the Privacy Policy at myungjoon.com/speechpath/lab/privacy, which explains what a take contains. You agree to these terms, and confirm you’ve read the Privacy Policy, when you sign and tap Agree in SpeechPath Lab. Each take you send is covered by them.

2. Who Can Contribute

2. Who Can Contribute

You’re 18 or older. Apple shares the age range on your Apple Account with SpeechPath Lab before you can record.

You record yourself. Every take must be your own face, saying the phrase yourself.

You agree to the consent shown in SpeechPath Lab, including the separate agreement to saving the shape of your face, and agree again when it changes.

3. The Permission You Give

3. The Permission You Give

By sending a take, you give Myung Joon Kang permission to store, review, copy and use it to build, test and improve lip guides and the SpeechPath features that show them, starting with SpeechPath 2.0. This permission is non-exclusive, free of charge and worldwide. It lasts until the take is deleted from SpeechPath Lab’s database. Copies already downloaded for review stay under this permission until they’re deleted on the schedule in the Privacy Policy. Lip guides already built from a take aren’t affected by its deletion. You keep any rights you have in your takes. This permission also covers anyone who takes over SpeechPath from us, under the same limits.

4. What We Won’t Do

4. What We Won’t Do

We won’t sell your takes.

We won’t share or publish your takes outside SpeechPath, or use them for anything other than SpeechPath, without asking for your consent again. Apple stores takes for us as a service provider. Takes are analysed on the developer’s computer, and Claude, an AI assistant made by Anthropic, may only help analyse combined results covering at least 10 contributors, never your takes or anything about you.

We won’t use your takes to identify you or recognise your face.

Lip guides built from many people’s takes may become part of SpeechPath, starting with SpeechPath 2.0. A lip guide is a new visualisation, never an exact copy of anyone’s take.

5. Review

5. Review

Each take is reviewed. A take may be rejected, for example if tracking was lost or the phrase wasn’t said, and rejected takes aren’t used unless a later review changes that. SpeechPath Lab shows them to you as Not used. Rejecting a take isn’t a judgement of you.

6. Withdrawing and Deleting

6. Withdrawing and Deleting

You can stop at any time. Withdraw your consent in Settings to stop recording straight away and remove every take you’ve sent from SpeechPath Lab’s database. If you withdraw while offline, your takes are removed from the database the next time SpeechPath Lab is open online. Your takes stay on your iPhone, so you can choose to send them again if you agree again later. Delete one take, one phrase’s takes or all of them in Contributions to remove them from both your iPhone and the database. Or choose Leave SpeechPath Lab in Settings to delete every take and withdraw your consent at once. A record that you agreed is kept either way, marked as withdrawn if you withdraw or leave. None of these reaches copies already downloaded for review or lip guides already built from them. To have review copies deleted too, email your Contributor ID or take IDs, as the Privacy Policy explains. SpeechPath Lab tells you before you remove takes that were used to build lip guides, since removing them won’t remove those lip guides.

7. No Payment

7. No Payment

Contributing is voluntary. You won’t be paid or receive any reward, and contributing doesn’t give you ownership of SpeechPath, its lip guides or anything built from them.

8. SpeechPath 2.0 Is in Development

8. SpeechPath 2.0 Is in Development

SpeechPath 2.0 hasn’t been released, and there’s no promise about when or whether it will be, or which features it will have. The SpeechPath available today doesn’t use your takes.

9. Fair Use of SpeechPath Lab

9. Fair Use of SpeechPath Lab

Please don’t send takes of anyone else, try to get around the age check, or interfere with SpeechPath Lab or its database. Takes that break these terms may be deleted.

10. Liability

10. Liability

SpeechPath Lab is provided as it is. To the extent the law where you live allows, we aren’t liable for losses from using it or from contributing, and nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

11. Governing Law

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes go to its courts. If you’re a consumer, this doesn’t take away protections you have under the laws where you live, or your right to bring a claim in your local courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

12. Changes to These Terms

If a change affects what we collect, who sees it, what it’s used for, how long it’s kept or where it goes, we raise the consent version and SpeechPath Lab asks you to agree again before you record. Other changes are listed with their date at the top of this page. Takes you sent before stay under the terms you agreed to, unless you agree otherwise. The current consent version is 1. Once there are earlier versions, they’ll be kept online with the date each one applied.
