"As Steve once said, technology alone is not enough. It is technology married with the liberal arts, married with humanities that makes our hearts sing. When you keep people at the centre of what you do, it can have an enormous impact ... In short, it means technology infused with your values making progress possible for everyone."
- Tim Cook
A.I. is better at coding and syntax. But I'm better at building.
Because building isn't just how and how well you code. It's about what to build and why.
Ever since I started coding, A.I. has been improving faster and faster. Now, the time has come to admit that it can generate code faster than I—or we—ever can. Sure, A.I. can generate code faster than anyone can. Sure, A.I. can generate code cheaper than anyone can. Some say developer is a meaningless profession to pursue now. But no, I disagree. Developers, "why" do you code? Why do we build? I build because building something makes my heart sing. I build because I have something I want to build. I build because I have my values I want to show to the world by building. Can A.I. do that? Among millions and millions of code it generates in seconds, are there any values? Without us developers, us builders, A.I. cannot infuse values in their code and make our hearts sing, now can it?
I published a new section on my website about my values: Accessibility, Education, and Communication. Check it out now.
Values are what makes us builders, not just coders. What values guide your work?
