Duet will not be coming to the App Store. Instead, the full source code is now available on GitHub.

A concept, honestly

Duet was always a concept more than a product. It was built for the Swift Student Challenge 2026 to demonstrate an idea: that language learning should be social, and that an app could act as a bridge between two people rather than standing between them as a teacher.

The idea holds up. But the distance between a concept and an app that people can rely on every day is much longer than a single submission, and I don't want to ship something that isn't really a product.

Why open source?

The alternative to open sourcing was to let the project sit in a private repository and exist only through screenshots on my website. That felt like the wrong ending for something I believe in.

Duet, although it's not a finished product, still contains the core idea. If that idea speaks to you, download the Xcode project, run it locally and try it. If any of the code is useful to you, fork it and take the part you want, or even build the version of Duet that I didn't.

The repository contains the same, full Xcode project I used for Swift Student Challenge 2026, under MIT license.
